  • In 2017 a small group of friends with a shared passion for contemporary music formed an ensemble dedicated to discovering and showcasing modern works. Balance Campaign has been using adventurous programming, commissioning, and educational outreach to advocate for new music in the D.C./Baltimore area ever since.

The group has performed an array of works by living composers, including Marc Mellits, Missy Mazzoli, Nico Muhly, and Steven Mackey. Committed to commissioning new works, they are currently collaborating with composer and Maryland-native, Nathan Lincoln-DeCusatis, to premiere a new composition for the ensemble this Spring.

Balance Campaign has performed at intimate local spots like An die Musik, offered composer workshops and performances at the University of Maryland - Baltimore, and looks forward to the 2018-19 season which includes a performance at the University of District of Columbia on its “Off the Beaten Path Music Series.” (from website)

  • District New Music Coalition’s inaugural ensemble-in-residence kicked off the 2018 Spring concert series with string quartets by DNMC founding members Bradley Green, William Kenlon, Dave Molk, Michael Oberhauser, and Ross Wixon, and DC-area composer Sara Corry. Performers Ryan Gregory and Kevin Sloan (violins), Tim MacDuff ( viola), and Pecos Singer (cello) transported this energetic program from a bar in Silver Spring (complete with beer-music pairings) to a church in Arlington, to an urban college campus in DC.
